St. Stephen's Episcopal Church is always delighted to welcome newcomers and anyone seeking a 'spiritual home'. We seek to serve all persons in the community. As an outgoing and inclusive parish, we invite you to join us in our worship of Jesus Christ.

Where is St. Stephen's?
We are located at 215 North 7th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana. Convenient parking is located in the lot just north and east of St. Stephen's with the main entrance of the church just off 7th Street. The Parish Office is open Tuesday to Friday from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Telephone is 812-232-5165. Click here for a map of our location.

When are the worship services?
Services are celebrated every Sunday at 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. and Thursday at 12 Noon. The 8:00 a.m. service on Sunday is Rite 1 and is conducted without music. The 10:00 a.m. service is usually Rite 2 and has a full choir and organ under the direction of Dennis Dieken, Choirmaster. The Thursday Eucharist service is conducted without music.

What is its ministry?
St. Stephen's desires to reach out to people in all walks and phases of life. Our mission is to be a place to find and be found by God. Our goal is to seek and serve Christ in all persons. Children join us to share in all our worship services. We seek to teach the Christian Faith and to further Christian ideals and principles. A variety of parish activities, including Bible study and community service with organizations such as the Salvation Army and Christmas in April and many others are available. to contact the church office for more information about ministry opportunities at St. Stephen's.

How can I receive Pastoral Care?
Pastoral care is provided by the Rector, the Reverend Joseph "Chip" Chillington. If you have someone in the hospital who is sick, or in a nursing home we will visit them. If you need prayers for a special situation or an appropriate referral to an agency or another church please contact him at 812-232-5165 or .

Is there music?
Music is a special ministry at St. Stephen's. We have a wonderful organ and choir at the 10:00 A.M. service. If you sing and would be interested in joining our choir, to contact the church office.

Is child care available?
Child care is offered during the 10:00 a.m. Sunday Service for children of pre-school age. Additionally, children ages four through eight are invited to a special Bible Story time during the sermon in the 10:00 a.m. service. They can exit the door in the front right part of the sanctuary with the other children. After the sermon's completion the children join us to celebrate the Holy Communion.

Do I have to be an Episcopalian?
No, everyone is welcome. In addition, all baptized persons regardless of their Christian tradition are invited to share in the Holy Communion during services. Others are welcome at God's altar for a blessing.

Do I have to dress up?
No, neat casual attire is quite acceptable.
